TV and the Internet Complement Each Other at Home

They offer information and entertainment and, according to a survey from Brand Connection, they tend to be individual activities since each one has its own screen.

Both the Internet and the TV are the two most used platforms at home. They offer entertainment and information, even though they have distinct characteristics which lead to different uses, mainly regarding attention and the fact of viewing it alone or in the company of other people.

According to a recent survey made by Brand Connection based on opinion polls to adults who had pay television and broad band connection at home, TV is the medium they resort to for entertainment and relax, as well as for information in the  morning. It tends to be on, even though people may not focus on any specific program, paying hardly any attention to it. In addition, in affluent households there are usually several television sets, which makes it  mainly an individual activity and pay TV is privileged for its ample range of offers and programming variety.

Regarding the Internet, people take advantage of its mobile condition (both through mobile devices as well as Wi-Fi connections), making constant use of it given its all-time availability. It is used to look for information, entertainment and to connect with other people, and is a personal activity.
